Sierra International Machinery—which recently joined the PSI Chapter—sells and services processing equipment for the scrap, recycling, and waste industries. The company’s equipment offerings include single- and two-ram balers, material handlers, portable baler/loggers, and conveyors. Sierra also sells used equipment and provides both in-stock parts and on-call service for customers.
In addition to its headquarters facility in Bakersfield, Calif., Sierra has a manufacturing and assembly plant in Jesup, Ga. There, the company makes its two-ram balers from scratch and assembles its shears and loggers from parts manufactured in Italy.
Sierra also has a sister company in Bakersfield—Sierra Recycling & Demolition—that processes a range of scrap (including some recovered fiber) using Sierra equipment, showing how the company’s machines perform in the field.
John Sacco, who leads Sierra International Machinery as president, has worked for the family business for the past 32 years. He also boasts decades of service in ISRI, including roles as president of ISRI’s former Southwestern Chapter and as a member of the national board of directors as well as numerous committees and councils. The pinnacle of his ISRI service came in 2010 when Sacco was elected as ISRI’s national chair for the 2010 to 2012 term, and he continues to participate within ISRI today.
