PSI Chapter Goes Big in Texas with Winter Event

The PSI Chapter is hosting a special one-day educational, networking, and social event Jan. 24, 2019, at the Omni Austin Hotel Downtown in Austin, Texas.

This PSI Chapter Winter Event is FREE for PSI Chapter members and $100 per person for nonmembers.

Among its showcase features, this don’t-miss event offers two educational workshops, with the centerpiece session examining the future of containerboard and the entire paper recycling stream in North America in 2020 and beyond. Moderator Jim Keefe of Recycling Today Media Group will lead this workshop, with speakers Debbie Jones of Deutsche Bank Securities Inc./Global Markets, Kelly McNamara of Numera Analytics, and Hannah Zhao of RISI. The event’s second workshop turns the spotlight on paper industry expert Bill Moore of Moore & Associates, who will discuss e-commerce and its effects on the paper recycling market.

All PSI Chapter members and guests who handle Undeliverable Bulk Business Mail (UBBM)—and those who are considering handling that material—won’t want to miss a special meeting with representatives from the U.S. Postal Service, who will make a proposal about establishing a new ISRI grade specification for UBBM.

The PSI Chapter Winter Event extends into the evening with a tour of the Texas Disposal Systems MRF in Creedmore, Texas, south of Austin. Attendees also will tour the company’s nearby Exotic Game Ranch, which is home to more than 2,000 animals from over 100 species. The tour ends at the site’s guest pavilion, where attendees will enjoy a Texas barbecue dinner.

After buses return attendees to the Omni Austin Hotel Downtown, the PSI Chapter invites participants to continue their evening by exploring Austin’s historic 6th Street entertainment district. Austin-based PSI member Balcones Resources will sponsor an after party tentatively planned to be held in the Victorian Room of The Driskill hotel, close to the Omni Austin Hotel Downtown.
