PSI Welcomes Huhtamaki as New Member
Huhtamaki is a global producer of sustainable food-on-the-go and food-on-the-shelf packaging products. “We are committed to making packaging more circular, and we embed sustainability in everything we do,” the company says. Offering just one example, Huhtamaki notes that its Chinet Classic White molded fiber plates and bowls are made from 100% pre-consumer recycled materials.
Huhtamaki Group, based in Espoo, Finland, operates in 35 countries and 81 sites around the world, and the company has 18,600 employees. Its Huhtamaki North America division is based in De Soto, Kansas.
Among the company’s environmentally conscious efforts, it has a sustainability program named Packaging for Good that focuses on the four priorities of People, Packaging, Supply Chain, and Operations. It also has adopted 11 of the United Nations’ Sustainability Development Goals, with a priority focus on the goal of “Responsible Consumption & Production” because “there we can have the biggest positive impact through our core business,” the company says.
